Creating your own graphics to use on your social media platforms is the best way to stand out and brand your business! We are huge fans of DIY design software which have built-in templates for you to use that makes designing super easy, but they aren’t always up to date with the sizes that Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter require as these platforms often like to switch things up and change dimensions on us. Here’s the most recent social media image cheat sheet for 2019:
As you may have noticed in 2017, Facebook has been on a roll with new features and updates. We will revise this blog post as soon as they change any sizes because we know it’s inevitable!
Facebook App Post: 810 x 450 px
Best viewed on a mobile device, which the majority of your followers will see.
Facebook Post: 940 x 788 px
Standard size for a FB post – best viewed on a computer.
Facebook Profile Photo: 180 x 180 px
Used on your personal profile (aka Timeline) and business pages.
Facebook Cover Photo: 828 x 315 px
For your Timeline and business page.
Facebook Group Photo: 1640 x 856 px
For your FB VIP/customer groups, team groups, niche/support groups.
Facebook Event Photo: 1920 x 1080 px
For your FB parties, classes, socials, trainings, workshops.
Facebook Story: 1080 x 1920 px
Add fun filters and share behind the scenes and family stories to build relationships with your fans.
Instagram is an extremely visual platform where it’s best to create your posts according to the size of the visible template as that is what is shown in your Grid but in the Feed you are able to size them to landscape as well but keep in mind that the image will be cropped in your Grid view.
Instagram Post: 1080 x 1080 px
This is the standard size for all posts.
Instagram Landscape: 1080 x 566
This size will crop the image in Grid view.
Instagram Story: 1080 x 1920 px
To make multiple slides appear animated and lengthen your story, keep the background static and add text to them!
Pinterest is a search engine for anything and everything. Pinners are visually attracted to easy to read images and vertical graphics are repinned the most so we highly suggest using them!
Pinterest Vertical Graphics:
Standard – 600 x 900
Tall – 600 x 1260 px
You can definitely lengthen the image if you’re creating an infographic or recipe that calls for more space! Shorter versions are fine too – just remember to make them eye catching!
Twitter is an informational platform best used for news and updates – keep your audience in the know and grab their attention by using an image in your Tweet!
Twitter Graphic: 1024 x 576 px
This format is similar to a Facebook App in appearance and both work great if you are repurposing your FB App post to Twitter in CinchShare.
Twitter Cover Photo: 1500 x 500 px
Remember that this is a wide/narrow space so less is more when it comes to adding text to your image.
